It's undeniable: Kendall County is growing. The population, the housing prices, the school systems, you name it: this once-tiny Texas county, known for its charming small towns and quaint housing stock, continues to expand, creating larger-than-life, well...everything.
From super-centers to mega-mansions, Fair Oaks, Boerne, and their neighbors have certainly grown up. But even with the creation of neighborhoods that offer homes over 6,000 square feet, there are still some homes that harken the good old days of “cozy” living.
While many of us have grown accustomed to living in larger homes than our grandparents did, the original Boerne homes were quite a bit smaller.German farmers built two-hundred-square-foot houses here in the Lone Star State in the late nineteenth century to house them when they came to town. Today, this may be considered a “tiny house”- a trend that glorifies life in a home smaller than 400 square feet.
But we aren’t talking tiny houses in this article, folks. These homes are not glorified “tiny homes,” nor the sprawling Texas-sized homes that inhabit many of the newer Boerne area neighborhoods. At 1,800 square feet or less, these homes are both cozy and classic, offering an alternative to many of today’s Kendall County real estate offerings.
These homes are just right: perfectly petite and (dare we say) classic Hill Country.
