1. Throw a hook with some buddies this weekend at the Child/Adult Team Fishing Tournament!

Attention all fishing buffs, did you know the first Saturday in June is the only day you can fish without a license in the state of Texas? This day means any child or adult not holding a fishing license is legal to fish. So this weekend grab your son, daughter, brother, dog, mother, cousin-in-law, etc. and head to the Boerne City Lake Park!  Because of this day, The Child/Adult Team Fishing Tournament was created to introduce the sport of fishing to children while teaching them the rules and creating a safe yet fun environment. Preregistration is encouraged, so form a team and see the website below for more details. Check in starts at 7:30-9 a.m. There will also be an informal meeting at 8:45 a.m. to go over the rules as well as proper fishing etiquette and technique. Get outside this weekend and enjoy the beautiful Texas Hill Country while fishing!

2. Kick off Summer Vacation at the Family Fun Festival ***CANCELLED!!

Get the family together and prepare for a weekend full of excitement, because it’s time for the Family Fun Festival. There will be a myriad of activities such as balloon racing, bobbing for apples, sack races, three legged leg races and much more. Soak up the the famous June rays while spending the day doing exciting activities with the whole family. There will also be an insightful ‘history of the farm’ session as well as a beautiful kite exhibit in honor of Jacob Broadbeck- also known as the Texan inventor who created the first manned power flight. So come out this Saturday and enjoy the beautiful weather at the Family Fun Festival!

The Sisterdale General Store has come up with the ultimate Hill Country experience; their Kayak, Wine and Lunch Tour! The tour has pickup locations in Fredricksburg, Austin, San Antonio, and all points in between their wine tour vehicles. Once you're picked up from your location, it is time for a 3-4 hour kayak trip down the exquisite Guadalupe river. Not only will you be learning to kayak, the scenery around you is absolutely breathtaking. This tour encourages all skill levels to participate because it takes you on the stretch from Waring to Sisterdale, which is the part of the Guadalupe that is very friendly to beginner kayakers. Next on the stop is the wine tour at the award-wining Sister Creek Vineyard for that perfect glass of post-kayak wine. After these two stops on the tour, you will be sure to work up an appetite so lunch will be served at the the Sisterdale General Store across from the Sister Creek Vineyard. Guests will be allowed to take their wine from the Vineyard to lunch with them at the general store. So what are you waiting for? This is prime season for summer fruit and other local favorites, so make that perfect summer recipe with all the farm fresh ingredients! There are also stunning arts and crafts made by local Texan artisans that capture the true beauty of Texas and its Hill Country culture. Along with the array of food you can buy, there are also live cooking demonstrations to help those looking for pointers or need a little expertise with their cooking skills. The farmers market has activities offered for both adults and children as well as workshops, including gardening classes. This is a community event and is free of charge.
