Five Things to Do in Boerne This Weekend (Dec. 18-20)

People love Boerne for the small town atmosphere, hill country views, and quaint downtown. However, Boerne also has far more to offer visitors and residents alike than many realize! Boerne is known for rich heritage, great location, and an active community, all of which are showcased by local businesses. No need to research, five of the best fun events to attend and businesses to visit in Boerne this weekend are described below. Hopefully this list will make planning a perfect Texas Hill Country weekend a little more simple!

Attend the Winter Solstice Concert at Cave Without a Name

The Boerne area is home to a number of natural wonders, including a variety of impressive geological formations and caverns. While many impress, The Cave Without a Name is arguably the most awe-inspiring in the area. The cave is host to plenty of large stalactite and stalagmite formations, which make for an incredible concert backdrop when added to the truly unique and incredible sound quality of caverns. This weekend, the cave’s acoustics will be shown off with the Winter Solstice Concert. The concert will feature a diverse group of instruments, musicians, and vocalists whose talents will expose just how incredible the cave can sound!

When: Saturday at 7pm.

Where: Cave Without a Name, 325 Kreutzberg Rd, Boerne

Stop by Cowboy Christmas Market Days

As we mentioned last week, Boerne Market Days generally takes place the second weekend of each month on Main Plaza in the historical district. Boerne Market Days is a great community tradition providing the opportunity to purchase unique and artisan goods. However, organizers decided that for the holidays there should be an exception to the second weekend of the month schedule. This weekend the tradition of market days combines with two other great Texas Hill Country traditions, Cowboys and Christmas. The three combine to make a special edition for the holiday season: Cowboy Christmas Market Days. This Saturday, stop by hundreds of booths selling jewelry, handmade goods, antiques, and much more!

Prepare to Eat at Klein Smokehaus

The Texas Hill Country is well known across the nation for having great barbecue, and Boerne is no exception to the rule. Klein Smokehaus has been a Boerne institution since being established on Main Street in 1950. The store began as a family grocery store, catering to the nutrition needs of the community. By 1976 the owners decided to hone their focus to what they felt they did better than anyone else around; high quality sausage and meats. Today, Klein Smokehaus is often mentioned as the best barbecue in Boerne. While the market closes on the weekend we had to make an exception for this barbecue staple. Stop by next week to find out why for yourself!
