Boerne is known far and wide for being a family-friendly community. Nestled in the beautiful hills of the Texas Hill Country and aided by small-town charm and a sense of community, it’s no wonder that families line up to live in Boerne. What many may not realize is Boerne also has a variety of family-friendly attractions to accompany their reputation. From natural wonders to man-made fun, there are plenty of places for kids (both young and old) to explore!
1. Cave Without a Name and Cascade Caverns
The Texas Hill Country is famous for beautiful rolling hills and stunning views. Created largely due to an extended amount of time spent underwater, the Hill Country landscape also includes hundreds of cave systems, both large and small. Cave Without a Name and Cascade Caverns both call the Boerne area home, offering visitors the opportunity to explore and learn more about geology and the history of the region. Kids gaze in wonder at the giant stalactite and stalagmite formations and are amazed to find that Boerne’s two caves are the only homes of the rare and blind Kendall Country salamander. A trip to either cave is sure to be a treat!
2. Enchanted Springs Ranch

Many of our best childhood memories root from experiences that let our imaginations run wild. In Texas, it seems every child has dressed as a cowboy and pretended to be a modern day John Wayne. With the authentic looks and feel of an old western movie, Enchanted Springs Ranch transports visitors to a different time and place. Open for tours, field trips, private events, and a yearly Christmas celebration, the ranch provides visitors with a first-hand Old West experience. Apart from the main attraction, the ranch serves as a home to numerous Buffalo, Longhorn, Horses, and even Zebras! A trip to the ranch is sure to bring out the best in all who take the time to visit.
3. River Road Park
One of the first things people notice when entering Boerne from the south is the beautiful tree-lined river on the edge of downtown. A local favorite, River Road Park is an awe-inspiring bit of nature accompanied by a few man-made conveniences and amenities. The park includes the beautiful river and trees, along with picnic units, sidewalks, and fishing piers. To add to the natural setting, quite a few varieties of ducks and geese call the park home. In fact, it’s not uncommon to see them walk right up to residents in the hope of scoring some free food! Bring the kids to enjoy a beautiful day outside.
4. Cibolo Nature Center
If you’re looking for an opportunity to teach your family about nature and the great outdoors, Boerne has a variety of great options. In particular, the Cibolo Nature Center offers the perfect opportunity to get in touch with your roots...both literally and metaphorically! Located on the historic Herff Ranch, The center began with the goal of helping to preserve Boerne’s own Cibolo Creek. Over the years, the mission expanded and the center now offers nature-focused education, research, entertainment, and outdoor activities throughout the year.
