People love Boerne for the small town atmosphere, Hill Country views, and quaint downtown scenery. However, Boerne also has far more to offer visitors and residents alike than many realize! Boerne is known for rich heritage, great location, and an active community, all of which are showcased by local businesses. No need to research: five of the best fun events to attend and businesses to visit in Boerne this week are described below. Hopefully, this list will make planning a perfect Texas Hill Country weekend a little easier!

Get Artsy at Second Saturday Art and Wine

Austin Monthly Magazine has named the Second Saturday in Boerne on its list of fun things to do in the Hill Country, and the event inevitably holds up to its reputation. Second Saturday is a free event open to the public who want to check out the bubbling art scene in Boerne. This weekend’s participating galleries are the Carriage House Gallery and Texas Treasures Fine Art, which will be serving complimentary beverages and hors d’oeuvres (because you can’t be artsy without hors d’oeuvres). If you don’t want to walk, hop on the “Shabby Bus” and make some new friends. For more information, please visit the website.

Get Some Goodies at the Farmers Market

Is there really anything better than fresh produce from the market? An excellent way to spend the last few weekends of summer in Texas is buying fresh food and having family and friends over for a meal on the porch in heavy anticipation for the mosquitoes to take a hike. Get to the Farmer’s Market at the Cibolo to support local farmers and specialty vendors supplying homemade, handmade, and fresh foods for everyone. You might not ever shop at the grocery store again.

When: Saturday, 9:00AM-1:00PM

Where: Herff Farm, 33 Herff Rd

Listen to Live Music at the Biergarten

Friday night at the Drink Texas Biergarten is the place to be! Kristoffer Fowler and Nate Nelson are taking the stage at 8 o’clock to bring you a rockin’ good time. Drink Texas Biergarten is known for being a live music staple in Boerne, and its located on the corner of South Main and James Street, right in the historic district. Prepare for the wailing guitars and soaring melodies Kristoffer Fowler and Nate Nelson have in their arsenal. With a great craft beer selection and Hill Country wines on hand, the Biergarten is a great place to unwind from the workweek.

Located in the heart of the historical district on Main Plaza is Boerne’s Market Days. Every second weekend of the month, Boerne becomes a go-to place for great shopping in an outdoor setting filled with artists, craftsmen, and vendors who provide their creations for you to browse and buy. All the while, Market Days always has some good music playing from some of Texas’ own musicians. It’s a true Texas Hill Country event filled with boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and more right in our very own town.

Watch a Play at the Theatre

This weekend ask “whodunit” at the Boerne Community Theatre production of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The 39 Steps.” This play has the feel of a Hitchcock masterpiece with the mystery of a spy novel and the absurdity of a Monty Python flick. Fast-paced and lively, this play is for anyone who enjoys the theater. With only four cast members portraying the parts of a dozen wacky characters, this play is as dynamic as the players. Plane crashes, police, missing fingers, and a little love thrown into the mix will surely bring the audience a collective smile. I don’t want to ruin it for you, so buy your tickets and see it for yourself! This play is all ages, and will be showing all month. Ticket information is available on the website or over the phone at 830-249-9166.

When: Friday & Saturday at 7:30 PM, Sunday at 2:00 PM

Where: Boerne Theatre, 907 E Blanco Rd
