People love Boerne for the small town atmosphere, Hill Country views, and quaint downtown scenery. However, Boerne also has far more to offer visitors and residents alike than many realize! Boerne is known for rich heritage, great location, and an active community, all of which are showcased by local businesses. No need to research: five of the best fun events to attend and businesses to visit in Boerne this week are described below. Hopefully, this list will make planning a perfect Texas Hill Country weekend a little easier!

Whether you’re obsessed with all things vintage, fascinated by old cars, or simply feeling nostalgic this weekend, The Key To The Hills Rod Run is the event for you! This free event is in its 30th year, bringing together “all the best” as far as Hot Rods go. The local favorite features vehicles from before 1948 only (distinguishing it from a "classic car show", which includes makes and models up through 1964). With nearly 500 coupes, sedans, and roadsters from all over the country, this event will take over Main Street Boerne all day Saturday! Boerne shops, cafe's, bakeries, and outside vendors will provide additional festivities as well.

4. Admire a Stunning Western Art Exhibition
Join the J.R. Mooney Galleries of Fine Art on Saturday for an exciting evening of Texas fine art! “TEXAS - Stories of the Land” will feature a stunning exhibition by legendary Western and Native American artist Jay Hester. The exhibit visually explores “events, ballads, and serenades of the old West”, drawing primarily on historical happenings in the Texas Hill Country. Jay’s pieces range from historical encounters between the Texas Rangers and the Comanche and Apache, the depot at Camp Verde, raids in Linnville and Plum Creek, Native American ambushes on early Texas/German settlers, and treaty signings in Fredericksburg.
Jay’s ability to capture the rustic beauty and the depth of the American West has gained him many honors and awards at national juried exhibitions. In addition to private collections across America, Jay has produced commissioned paintings for Texas Tech University and Methodist Hospital in Lubbock, the Zaragosa Theater at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, USAA in San Antonio, as well as many other public collections. He also recently installed a larger than life bronze sculpture of Cadet George P. Mitchell at the Texas A&M Galveston campus.
