2. Admire Local Art at the Hill Country Invitational Art Show

For hundreds of years, the gorgeous, rolling landscape of the Texas Hill Country has inspired artists of all kinds to create, innovate, and produce stunning works of visual art. This year’s Texas Hill Country Invitational Art Show & Sale (produced and presented by Boerne Professional Artists) will feature the fruit of this labor, showing off pieces from over 50 renowned artists across Texas! The 2016 event is set to be the largest gathering in the event’s 15-year history. Works of art will vary in style and form, from oil, acrylic, pastel, and watercolor paintings to graphite to photography, pottery, jewelry, sculpture, and far more. To add to the event’s appeal, the show will include artist lectures and demonstrations throughout Saturday afternoon.
The show’s incredible success is all due to the tireless work of Boerne Professional Artists (BPA), an organization committed to supporting the visual arts in Boerne and the Texas Hill Country area by providing opportunities, networking, and support for its member artists and galleries. 3. Watch the World’s Most Powerful Motor Sport (aka Tractor Pull)
In true Texas Hill Country fashion, the Tri-County Tractor Pullers Assn of Rio Medina will hold a tractor pull on Saturday morning behind the red barn at the Agricultural Heritage Museum! With approximately 50 Farmall & John Deere tractors participating in the event, the pull is sure to be a great time. In case you aren’t familiar with a tractor pulling (known as the “world’s most powerful motorsport”), the competition will measure the strongest machine and the best driver.
The tractor pull will take place at The Agricultural Heritage Museum, located on over five acres of Boerne City Park. The museum’s impressive exhibits includes a blacksmith shop, woodworking shop, pioneer house, wagon house, main museum building, as well as plenty of antique farm machinery and implements. The museum’s mission is to educate visitors about the agricultural and rural life of the Texas Hill Country through the collection and preservation of artifacts and sharing of stories.

4. Celebrate Autumn at the CNC’s Fall Family Festival

On Saturday (October 15), the Fall Family Festival (sponsored by the Upper Cibolo Creek Watershed Partnership and Hill Country Memorial Boerne) will give you and your family the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the festive colors of the surrounding Hill Country Autumn. The Festival will feature pumpkin painting, hay bale maze, water activities, crafts, and more! The Fall Festival is just another way the Cibolo Nature Center strives to place emphasis on a strong community and the importance of our little town’s natural beauty.

During the month of October, The Hill Country’s German roots truly come to life. Head to Boerne Oktoberfest 2016 on Saturday (October 15) and Sunday (October 16) for the annual celebration of “Bavarian Culture, History and...Great Beer!” This classic event will be a wonderful opportunity to highlight Boerne’s German culture and heritage in the historic downtown area. The Oktoberfest celebration will be free, so come on down and enjoy good food, activities for the kids, German and Texas beer, special events, and live music!
