5 Things To Do in Boerne This Weekend (March 25-27)

People love Boerne for the small town atmosphere, Hill Country views, and quaint downtown. However, Boerne also has far more to offer visitors and residents alike than many realize! Boerne is known for rich heritage, great location, and an active community, all of which are showcased by local businesses. No need to research, five of the best fun events to attend and businesses to visit in Boerne this week are described below. Hopefully this list will make planning a perfect Texas Hill Country weekend a little easier!

1. Impress your taste buds at The Boerne Cooking Cottage

The Boerne Cooking Cottage truly exemplifies Boerne’s philosophy on life and leisure: always strive for excellence, deliver quality, and expect the unexpected. This delightful shop was started by foodie and entrepreneur Lauren Moore. Lauren was inspired by her mother, who instilled “the importance of good, wholesome food and the art of dining and togetherness at mealtime." After moving from Dallas to Boerne with her husband Tommy and starting a family in the Texas Hill Country, Lauren was inspired by to start Boerne Cooking Cottage and its kids' cooking camps! Ever since, Boerne Cooking Cottage has been transformed into an area favorite, complete with adult cooking classes, catering, “lunchable” style meals, and far more. You can schedule a private cooking class for this weekend or a future weekend by calling today! Private classes can be themed anything from Pasta Making to Mediterranean to Tapas to Pie Making and way more. Click here to book yours!

For many, Saturday mornings are associated with good old fashioned garage sale treasure hunting...but you won’t have to search the streets to find the best deals in Boerne this weekend! Head to the Kendall County Fairgrounds for the 4th Annual Community Garage Sale, whether you’re hunting for a new piece of furniture or just strolling the booths seeking entertainment. The garage sale will take place rain or shine, and concessions will be available.

3. Cure your Spring Fever at this festival at Herff Farm

If you find yourself eyeing the local nursery or lingering by the growing herbs at Lowe’s or HEB, you might have what is referred to as “Spring Fever” almost uncontrollable urge to get on your hands and knees and GARDEN. If this sounds like you, Herff Farm has exactly the right festival to cure what ails you. The Spring Fever festival, hosted by Inspiration Garden volunteers at the Herff Farm, features various workshops on gardening basics like irrigation, fertilization, native and drought tolerant plants, permaculture, vermaculture, backyard chickens and more.

4. Groove to the first Hot Rod Night of the season!

If you’re feeling nostalgic this weekend, just head to Soda Pops Patio Grill & Bar for one of their famous “Hot Rod Nights”! During Hot Rod Nights, the town gathers together at Soda Pops to listen to special musical guests and enjoy juicy burgers, cold beer, and handspun shakes. This Saturday, you can listen to the Ricky Adams Band: a mix of country, classic rock, and blues music. The band claims a spot in the Bandera Music Hall of Fame as 2014 Honorees of Best Band/duo, and front man Ricky Adams was honored as Best Vocalist 2014. This Saturday’s Hot Rod Night is the first of the season, so it’s sure to be packed!

This classic restaurant is reminiscent of a retro 50’s diner combined with a cartoon-worthy ice cream parlor and soda shop with a novelty atmosphere. To add to the whimsy, the attached Ice Cream Parlor + Soda Shop offers homemade treats, tabletop bowling, checkers, coloring books, barrel-of-monkey, and lots of old school fun.

5. Enjoy tastes and sips at a local beer garden

The quirky family-style venue features dozens of beers on tap, a bounce house for kids, outdoor space, and various food trucks! Given the mild Texas spring we’ve been having, an outdoor venue to sip wine and beer is the best way to spend your weekend. Besides great food (Big City Streat Bistro will be serving up food all weekend), Random will host live music and special events over the next several days! As explained by one customer, Random has an “Austin feel but with San Antonio/Boerne pride.” Live music and a Sunday Egg Hunt mean you can’t miss an evening (or egg-filled morning) with Random Beer Garden.
