People love Boerne for the small town atmosphere, Hill Country views, and quaint downtown scenery. However, Boerne also has far more to offer visitors and residents alike than many realize! Boerne is known for rich heritage, great location, and an active community, all of which are showcased by local businesses. No need to research: five of the best fun events to attend and businesses to visit in Boerne this week are described below. Hopefully, this list will make planning a perfect Texas Hill Country weekend a little easier!
1. Enjoy a Whimsical Performance of “Twas the Night Before Christmas”
It’s the final weekend of Boerne Community Theatre’s production of “Twas the Night Before Christmas”! This whimsical play takes the audience on a wild adventure with a mouse, an elf, and a spunky little girl who “just won't take no for an answer.” The storyline involves a heist, a duel with rapiers, some hip-hop, a squirt gun, a perilous airplane flight and an elf’s stint as a secret agent. The play’s exuberance and storytelling magic have earned it nationwide critical acclaim. The Washington Post has described it as having “a momentum and ebullience worthy of the Pixar-era”.
Note: For a cost of $10, Santa will be available for holiday photos prior to showtime, during intermission, and immediately after the performance. Proceeds from the photos to benefit the BCT general fund! Boerne Community Theatre produces quality, live theater that entertains, educates and enriches the community.
When: December 2-17, 2016 (see website for full list of showtimes and dates)
Where: 907 E Blanco Rd

4. Listen to a Concert in an Underground Cavern
Nothing screams “festive” like Christmas music and nothing quite says “Hill Country” like a concert inside of an underground cavern! This weekend’s self-described “eclectic concert” will celebrate the Winter Solstice with music by Celebration Circle. Featuring soaring vocals, ancient instrumentation, and a unique performance style, Celebration Circle’s set will include both contemporary acoustic songs and arrangements of traditional carols...all in flickering candlelight! Tip: For those who come early, Firehouse Fare will be available at 4:30 PM with delicious cuisine.
Located 11 miles northeast of Boerne, Cave Without a Name is a natural, living cavern filled with spectacular formations of stalactites, stalagmites, cave drapery, magnificent flowstones, rimstone dams, and more!
When: Saturday, December 17 (7:00pm)
Where: Cave Without a Name, 325 Kreutzberg Rd
5. Celebrate Christmas in the Park
Texans may not be privy to chilly winter temperatures or the sight of a white Christmas...but a temperate holiday season certainly has its perks! This weekend, The Roundup’s 2nd Annual Christmas in the Park will take advantage of Saturday’s warm and sunny weather with plenty of outdoor fun. Featuring booth vendors, dance performances, live music, Santa Claus pictures, food trucks, face painting, an ugly Christmas sweater contest, and far more, Christmas in the Park is sure to be a favorite event of this holiday season.
More than just local fun, Christmas in the Park is a fundraiser for Toys for Tots. This incredible program (run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve) distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. Though admission to Christmas in the Park is free, it’s suggested that you bring a new and unwrapped toy donation to the event!
