Whether you’re a theater aficionado or simply love good entertainment, this weekend’s Arts Education TV Talent Showcase is a must-see! Hosted at the Patrick Heath Public Library’s outdoor amphitheater, the Showcase is a live on-location video shoot featuring both experienced and novice performers. Entertainment for the evening will include The Bohemian Guitar Player and a special guest appearance by William Chapman! This is an incredible opportunity for the local community to meet the faces on-screen and behind-the-scenes of AETV.org, an organization committed to showcasing the arts and arts education. Be sure to bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and enthusiasm for the arts!

2. Learn New Techniques at a Portrait Painting Workshop

Calling all Hill Country artists! The Hill Country Council for the Arts is offering up a Portrait Painting Workshop, open to acrylic, oil, and pastel artists. Coached by award-winning portrait artist and art teacher Leonora Volpe, this mini-workshop will focus on facial coloring techniques like skin tone, blending, lighting values, and temperature changes. The day’s sessions are designed to help participants see beyond any frustrations and re-discover the fun of painting and learning.
This event is hosted by Hill Country Council for the Arts, an organization devoted to creating enhanced community awareness, developing opportunities for collaboration and involvement, encouraging individual and corporate financial support, developing a long-range plan for promoting the growth of the Arts, and reaching out geographically to all areas of the Hill Country and Texas.

3. Discover Mix Tape Band

Discover a new band and hear some of your favorite tunes: the up-and-coming Mix Tape Band will be playing live music at Random on Saturday evening! An energetic, fresh 80’s and 90’s-style band, Mix Tape is composed of local musicians determined to infuse fresh new sound into the area music scene. With musical backgrounds ranging from R&B to pop to Tejano, this unlikely mix blends together perfectly on stage...complete with infectious dance grooves and a dynamic stage presence.
Random Beer Garden is a family-friendly outdoor entertainment venue, food truck mecca, and overall hangout spot. This Saturday, Z’s Pizza, Natura Mexican Food Truck, Creme de la Creme, Slider Provider, Eliot's Roasted Corn, and Zani Sweet Treats will be parked and ready to serve you while you enjoy the live music.

4. Redeem Last Week’s Hot Rod Night

Did you miss the news? Last week’s Hot Rod night has been rescheduled due to weather! If you’re feeling nostalgic for a simpler time and tastier ice cream, you can head to Soda Pops Patio Grill & Bar this Saturday. Famous for its charming 1950’s feel and old-time memorabilia, Soda Pops’ classic feel is reminiscent of a retro 50’s diner...combined with an almost cartoonish ice cream parlor and novelty soda shop. During Hot Rod Nights, the town gathers together at Soda Pops to listen to special musical guests and enjoy juicy burgers, cold beer, and handspun shakes. This Saturday, you can listen to The Blast Band, a classic rock group passionate about the oldies.
