It’s almost the middle of the month...which means Second Saturday Art & Wine must be approaching! Sure enough, this Saturday is the local evening devoted to helping you discover the art scene of Boerne. Participating local galleries will serve complimentary beverages and appetizers that you can enjoy while simultaneously enjoying the fantastic art. Whether you want to travel by foot or in the “Shabby Bus”, Second Saturday is always a treat. Better yet, this event is free and open to the public! Participating locations include Carriage House Gallery, JR Mooney Galleries, and Texas Treasures Fine Art among others. Austin Monthly Magazine recently named it on their list of fun things to do in the area!

4. Jump Into the Family Fun Festival...Literally!

If you have little ones, you are well aware that school is starting in just a few weeks...and along with it the endless scheduling, carpooling, school supply shopping, and so on. Soak up these remaining days of summer with all the fun you can muster, starting with this weekend’s Family Fun Festival! Hosted by the Cibolo Nature Center, this free event features all the classic festival games and contests, like the three-legged race, sack race, egg in a spoon race, water balloon toss, kite exhibition, watermelon-eating contest, chicken relay, and way more. Bring your kite and swimsuit!

The Family Fun Festival is hosted by the Cibolo Nature Center & Farm, a community organization that passionately believes our brightest future is one lived in harmony with nature. Besides family-friendly festivals like the one above, the CNC&F offers ongoing education programs for kids like Little Explorers, Mother Nature’s Story Time, Kids Club at the Farm, Junior Gardener’s Club, Summer camps, Art in the Park, scouting programs, and way more.

5. Go Back in Time with the Kuhlmann-King Museum Tour

Are you nostalgic for the old days? Whether you're an avid Boerne citizen or simply interested in history, the Kuhlmann-King Historical House is the place to be on Saturday. The museum offers tours to the public on the second Saturday of each month. Located behind Boerne City Hall, this preserved piece of history gives you the chance to see what a historic Boerne home looked like "way back when" in the form of a 19th-century German Pioneer home. The property was built by William Kuhlmann (a German settler) between 1885-1890 and remained a family home until 1920. Stop by and hear the full story!
