1. Have a Blast at the Family Fun Festival

Summer is upon us! Celebrate with the CNC at their annual Family Fun Festival, Boerne’s favorite way to welcome in the season of play. Kids can compete for prizes in field-day-style events that range from traditional (balloon tosses, three-legged race, bobbing for apples) to zany (dizzy balloon relay and watermelon eating contest)! Families will also have the opportunity to make and fly kites...we’ll see you there!

2. Enjoy Abendkonzerte

A local favorite, The Boerne Village Band boasts the status of the "longest continuously playing German Band in the world outside of Germany"! Abendkonzerte (German for “evening concert”) is literally that: an enjoyable opportunity to head to the plaza and hear the traditional tunes of Boerne’s past. Concertgoers, remember to bring your own seating!

3. Compete in the Family Fishing Tournament

As tradition would have it, the first Saturday in June is "fish without a license" day in the State of Texas! Naturally, Boerne is turning this day of fishing into a family affair. The Family Fishing Tournament will be a fun-filled (and totally free) opportunity to introduce kids to the sport of fishing and enjoy a little quality time. Registration will start at 7:30 am on the day of the tournament!

Located 11 miles northeast of Boerne, Cave Without a Name is a natural, living cavern filled with spectacular formations of stalactites, stalagmites, cave drapery, magnificent flowstones, rimstone dams, and more! But this natural wonder doesn’t just offer visually stunning effects; the cave also hosts incredible auditory wonders in the form of underground concerts. Plus, this week’s themed Elvis Market Days promises to be alive with the spirit of rock-and-roll, featuring themed merchandise and collectibles, along with the usual artisan-made goods. Plus, the music lineup will include a classic oldies show. Market Days is a perfect way to immerse yourself in the artistic Hill Country culture, all while enjoying live music and delicious food.

6. Zoom Around to Second Saturday Art & Wine

Second Saturday is an evening devoted to helping you discover the art scene of Boerne. Participating local galleries will serve complimentary beverages and appetizers that you can enjoy while simultaneously enjoying the fantastic art. Better yet, this event is free and open to the public! Austin Monthly Magazine recently named it on their list of fun things to do in the area. 7. Savor Bacon and Beer

Random calls it “Bacon & Beer Fest,” but most other people will just call it “paradise.” We’re stoked that this mega-delicious festival is making its way back to Boerne for the third time! The event will feature delicious eats from area food trucks as they incorporate America’s favorite food into their best dishes. Enjoy the incredible food with refreshing craft beer and live music!

8. Sway Along to the Moondance Concert

Nothing quite says “summertime” like swaying to music under the stars and the oak trees! Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and dancing feet to the Cibolo Nature Center’s favorite outdoor concert series “Moondance at the Cibolo.” This casual event celebrates Hill Country vibes beautifully, and the proceeds help support nature education and outreach programs at Cibolo Nature Center & Farm. The Court Jesters will perform this month, churning out rock and rhythm & blues classics while Firehouse Fare Food Truck serves up some good eats.

9. Gather with the Community at Berges Fest

One of the most quintessentially “Boerne” days of the year, The Boerne Berges Fest invites locals and tourists alike to celebrate German culture in America! This 3-day, family-friendly festival centers around the Boerne’s unique heritage with an old-fashioned community parade, followed by the traditional "Festival in the Hills" at Herff Park and Kendall County Fairgrounds. Berges Fest will also feature music from one of Texas' best German folk bands, the iconic dachshund races, carnival rides, and far more!

10. Marvel at the Bluegrass & Butterflies Festival

Is anything more classically Hill Country than bluegrass and butterflies? The Roundup certainly doesn’t think so! They’re hosting their very first "Bluegrass & Butterflies Music Festival" this month, featuring some of the best local bluegrass bands, including Bo DePeña Band and the Curtis Clogston Band. Music will play from 3:00 to 7:30 pm, followed by the pinnacle of the evening: a massive release of butterflies at 7:30! The festival is family and pet-friendly, featuring food trucks, a crawfish boil, beer garden, playground, and more.

11. Experience Sparkling Cocktails & Fireflies

To celebrate one of the most magical summertime phenomena, the Cibolo Nature Center is hosting a “Thirst for Nature” event themed around fireflies! The “Thirst for Nature” series aims to pair delicious cocktails with fascinating nature discussions. On June 22nd, sip a refreshing “Firefly Lemonade” (sweet tea vodka and lemonade) and discover the fascinating anatomy of fireflies, followed by a stunning firefly walk through the Texas Hill Country scenery. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for kids, and free for ages 6 and under!

12. Grab Fresh Produce at the Farmers Market

Looking for locally-sourced produce, meat, eggs, and more? The Farmer’s Market at the Cibolo is open every Saturday! Vendors offer up a wide variety of seasonal vegetables, herbs, and fruits, as well as gourmet sauces, fresh poultry, farm-fresh eggs, artisan coffee, fresh kolaches, organic personal care products, and more. If you’re feeling nostalgic for simpler times, just head to Soda Pops Patio Grill & Bar for one of their famous “Hot Rod Nights”! Soda Pops is a classic restaurant reminiscent of a retro 50’s diner...combined with a cartoon-worthy ice cream parlor and soda shop with a novelty atmosphere. To add to the whimsy, the attached Ice Cream Parlor + Soda Shop offers homemade treats, tabletop bowling, checkers, coloring books, barrel-of-monkey, and lots of old school fun. Ditch the typical weekend movie night and watch a classic flick under the stars instead! The City of Boerne is hosting another Movie in the Park event on Friday, May 26th. You and your family can spread out under the Texas sunset and enjoy a free showing of The Sandlot, a classic flick about a ragtag gang of baseball fanatics. This month’s movie is also “All-Star Night,” so wear your favorite team’s jersey! Pre-movie activities begin at 6:30 pm.
