Ditch the typical weekend movie night and watch a classic flick under the stars instead! The City of Boerne is hosting several “Movie in the Park” events this month. To take advantage of the beautiful Hill Country weather, the first of these nights will take place on Boerne City Lake on July 14th. Appropriately enough, this refreshing evening will feature the splashy flick “Finding Dory” on a screen near the pavilion. Grab flotation device from Random or Hill Country Paddle Sports and enjoy free lake entry starting at 6:00 PM! Then, on July 28th, get your Christmas-in-July fix with a showing of The Santa Clause. 6. Sway to a Jazzy Moondance
Nothing quite says “summertime” like swaying to music under the stars and the oak trees! Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and dancing feet to the Cibolo Nature Center’s favorite outdoor concert series “Moondance at the Cibolo.” This casual event celebrates Hill Country vibes beautifully, and the proceeds help support nature education and outreach programs at Cibolo Nature Center & Farm. This month will feature "Jazz Blues & Diamonds,” a band that can croon out anything from Swing to The Rat Pack to Motown.

9. Run the Boerne Beer Mile
If you’re into beer, competition, and long acronyms, this event was hands-down created for you. The Third Ever Boerne Brewery America Day Beer Mile (TTEBBADBM) will foster a hilarious and highly competitive atmosphere, featuring some of Boerne's fittest and most accomplished beer drinkers! True to its name, this event will challenge participants to complete in a one-mile race...with four pit stops for pints. The fee for participation is $25 and will include your beer, t-shirt, and sticker.

10. Listen to a Concert in the Cave
If you love a total experience when you listen to music, you can’t miss a chance to attend a “Concert in the Cave” at Cave Without a Name! Their haunting, Americana-inspired sound will combine beautifully with the natural subterranean acoustics of the cave.

A local favorite, The Boerne Village Band boasts status as the longest continuously playing German Band in the world outside of Germany! 13. Head to Hot Rod Night

If you’re feeling nostalgic this weekend, just head to Soda Pops Patio Grill & Bar for one of their famous “Hot Rod Nights”! Soda Pops is a classic restaurant reminiscent of a retro 50’s diner...combined with a cartoon-worthy ice cream parlor and soda shop with a novelty atmosphere. To add to the whimsy, the attached Ice Cream Parlor + Soda Shop offers homemade treats, tabletop bowling, checkers, coloring books, barrel-of-monkey, and lots of old school fun. During Hot Rod Nights, the town gathers together at Soda Pops to listen to special musical guests and enjoy juicy burgers, cold beer, and handspun shakes. 14. Support your Local Theatre
Originally founded in the early 1990’s, Boerne Community Theater has labored to produce quality, live theater that entertains, educates, and enriches the community for over 20 years. This weekend, they will continue their tradition of excellence with a rendition of “Don’t Cry for Me, Margaret Mitchell,” a fast-paced, witty story of three men hurriedly trying to rewrite a screenplay for Gone With the Wind. 15. See the Night Sky Up Close

“The stars at night/Are big and bright/Deep in the heart of Texas!” Explore this true-to-real-life phenomenon firsthand at a Star Party this month! This astronomy-focused event will be centered around both experts and amateurs with their telescopes pointed at the dazzling Hill Country stars. The party will be hosted by Patrick Heath Public Library and Boerne Parks & Recreation, and telescopes will be provided by San Antonio Astronomical Association. Be sure to bring blankets, chairs & bug spray!
