1. Support the Community Theater and See a Play

Originally founded in the early 1990’s, Boerne Community Theater has labored to produces quality, live theater that entertains, educates, and enriches the community for over 20 years. This weekend, they will continue their tradition of excellence with The The 39 Steps, a combination that can only be described with this recipe: “Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theater.” The story centers around a relatively ordinary man who gets tangled up in the murder of a spy. Soon, a mysterious organization called "The 39 Steps" is hot on the man's trail in a nationwide manhunt! Funny, adventurous, and full of intrigue, 39 Steps boasts 2 Tony awards, among other accolades.

When: Friday & Saturday, 8:00pm, Sunday at 2:00pm

2. Channel Your Inner Scientist at the CNC

On Saturday, Sept. 17th the Cibolo Nature Center will host its 7th annual Science in Nature event! This community favorite event aims to teach science through nature, featuring everything from birds to butterflies to seeds to soil to bats to drones. For this event, the CNC partners with regional science and education professionals to host activities for elementary-aged children and their families, including the City of Boerne Park and Recreation Department, SA Zoo, SA Botanical Gardens, UTSA, Mitchell Lake Audubon, Girls INC, and Riverside Nature Center. Activities throughout the day will include seed necklaces and dissections, coloring with soils, learning how to take care of bees and how they take care of us, drone technology, insect movement, and more!

3. Sway Under the Stars at Moondance Concert

Ingredients for the perfect summer evening include: dancing under an umbrella of live oaks, a sky full of stars, and some sway-worthy music. Add them all together and you’ve got the Cibolo Nature Center’s outdoor concert series “Moondance At the Cibolo”. More than just a romantic-sounding name, this summer series has become a local favorite featuring music, dancing, and community togetherness. This weekend’s concert (the last of the season) will feature The Lost Mule Band, a long-time local favorite specializing in a unique mix of traditional country, classic rock, blues and Texas swing! Firehouse Fare food truck will also be present to offer up good eats. Proceeds from the concert will assist in nature education and outreach programs at Cibolo Nature Center & Farm. 4. Enjoy the Hill Country Skies at a Star Party

If you’re thinking a “Star Party” sounds uneventful, this is the perfect opportunity to prove otherwise. The night sky is covered in more colors and phenomenal lights than any rave you could imagine! This astronomy-focused event will be centered around both experts and amateurs with their telescopes pointed at the dazzling Hill Country stars. The Library will provide an educational program at 6:30pm, and the astronomers will set up their telescopes to begin viewing at sundown. The star party will be hosted by Patrick Heath Public Library & Boerne Parks & Recreation and is free and open to the public!

5. Try a Local Barre Class For Free!

Do you like to get moving on a Saturday morning? You’re in luck! Elegance and Life Barre Studio (a local Boerne business) has teamed up with Smoothie King to host a free pop-up event for fitness enthusiasts in Boerne and the surrounding areas.
