5 Things To Do in Boerne This Weekend (March 4-6)

People love Boerne for the small town atmosphere, Hill Country views, and quaint downtown. However, Boerne also has far more to offer visitors and residents alike than many realize! Boerne is known for rich heritage, great location, and an active community, all of which are showcased by local businesses. No need to research, five of the best fun events to attend and businesses to visit in Boerne this week are described below. Hopefully this list will make planning a perfect Texas Hill Country weekend a little easier!

1. Listen to haunting melodies in an underground cave

If you love a total experience when you listen to music, you can’t miss Harpeth Rising’s live Saturday performance at Hill Country House Concerts. This band’s already-beautiful melodies of will be elevated even further by the acoustics and majesty of the underground caves. Harpeth Rising is composed of Jordana Greenberg (violin), Rebecca Reed-Lunn (banjo), and Maria Di Meglio(cello), all of whom contribute to the band’s three-part vocal harmonies.

Considered to be genre-benders, Harpeth Rising have truly created their own unique sound...a rare feat for artists today. Their music draws from folk, newgrass, rock, and classical roots. In August 2015, their newly released album ‘SHIFTED’ debuted at #1 on the Folk-DJ Charts. Harpeth’s live performances are said to be, “kinetic events in which their passion and their abilities are equally displayed.”

Perhaps one of the more unique events on the list is “Wings Over Boerne”, a truly extraordinary experience. The Boerne Convention and Visitors Bureau and Last Chance Forever (The Bird of Prey Conservancy) have partnered to bring this event to life. Wings Over Boerne will feature a series of bird of prey demonstration, as well as a flying demo with hawks, owls, falcons, and vultures. These truly larger-than-life wild animals fly with precision and speed, always delivering a captivating performance.

Founded in 1978, Last Chance Forever is a nonprofit dedicated to the” rehabilitation of sick, injured and orphaned birds of prey, scientific investigation and the education of the public.” Wings Over Boerne is a piece of the effort to educate the public on the dwindling population of birds of prey. Because these animals are still considered “wild”, each show is a bit different and unique! Head to the Boerne Visitors Center on Saturday to see for yourself.
